So here’s the deal…
Do you ever just get home from not even a really particularly long day, just a day in general, and you plop on the couch and wrap up in a blanket and get your glass of water cause you are healthy darnit and you’re sitting there and then “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days” is on and then after that “27 Dresses” is on and before you know it three hours have gone by and you’re in a Rom-Com rabbit hole?
Well as you may have guessed, that’s been the back half of my day today. I want so badly to be productive, but at the same time I’m like, “Well… it’s 8 o’clock and Shark Tank is on. Should we just call it a day?”
Do you ever feel like that? If not, just smile and nod along so I feel like I’m not alone in this.
What do we do when we get in this random slump?
Here’s my 2 Step Process that I’m trying out:
Get off the couch for 10 minutes. Just 10 minutes, set a goal to get up and do something for 10 minutes.
*A lot of times when I get in a slump it’s because there’s this internal battle going on between the desire to be productive and the desire to just call it a day and get in my jammies so here are some things I like to do that help me fulfill that productive part of me that’s left over from earlier in the day. You can do each of these in about 10 minutes or less. Go get em girl!
make a healthy before bedtime snack, put some essential oils in your diffuser, fold some laundry, go for a quick walk (even if it’s just around your yard), clean the kitchen from the day, make yourself a London Fog in your favorite mug, go wash your face and brush your teeth, do the 54321 calm down technique, read a passage of Scripture or a little bit of a book you’ve been meaning to dive into, or do a combination of these things :)
THEN, let yourself fold into the evening and watch some Shark Tank and then get some sleep and start the day fresh tomorrow. This is a key part! There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to rest. Many times I’ve found I just need to give myself permission to rest. Sometimes when you feel blah that’s your body letting you know to stop and take a nap or get some rest. We have to make sure that we’re paying attention to those cues.
I hope that this quick little process has been helpful to you :)
I know that I mentioned a lot of ideas above so I’m leaving recipes and suggestions down below for you to look over!
Remember sweet girl, you are so beautiful and so worthy of rest. Take care of the body and the life that has been entrusted to you by your Father who loves you so so much!!
Go get some rest friend :)
